Masterton Medical Centre
Project Description
Elite Drainage delivered the full drainage and civil works package for the new Masterton Medical Centre on Colombo Road, built by Concept Construction for Ngāti Kahungunu ki Wairarapa Tāmaki-nui-a-Rua.
Our scope included the on-site stormwater system – sumps, catchpits, threshold and channel drains, downpipe connections, three large commercial soakpits and the water tank overflow – along with the foul water (sewer) drainage, a new wastewater manhole over the existing council main, and the new water supply connection with smart meter and backflow prevention.
We also built the carparks, including subgrade preparation, basecourse, kerb and channel, concrete islands and asphalt surfacing. During the project we took on additional variations for the western carpark extension and the new Colombo Road entranceway.
Working closely with the engineers at CF Projects, the soakpits were resized following on-site soakage testing, with the largest soakpit built at 5 m x 5 m (25 m³) to handle stormwater from the building, carpark and water tanks. All of this was completed alongside the main contractor and other trades on an active building site.
Performance
- Stormwater and foul water drains tested to council requirements.
- Carpark subgrade verified with Scala penetrometer testing.
- Soakpit design updated and verified on site with the project engineer.
- Producer Statement (PS3) issued for the drainage, water supply and carpark works.
- Worked in with the main contractor's programme on a busy, multi-trade site.
